Pandoro

Pandoro main.jpg

A very typical Italian Christmas cake which translates as “golden bread” (pan d'oro).

The origins of pandoro are traced back to Verona in Northern Italy - and it was generally only eaten by the wealthy because of how expensive eggs, butter, sugar and honey were.

Pandoro is my favourite cake to eat at Christmas 🎄 🎄🎄

This was my first attempt at making it myself and I can tell you it was a real labour of love! I've added both grated lemon zest and orange to give the pandoro a lovely fragrance.

Here’s the recipe I followed: https://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/pandoro_93030

Buon Natale.

Mangia, mangia! 👩🏻‍🍳

This is what it should look like after the 2nd proof.
